Blog Post One: Growing Pains
There is a consensus amongst my friends that we are all experiencing “growing pains.” You may be thinking of the physical pain that occurs in our youth (yes, they do exist). However, in our case, professional growth is the culprit. It hurts to stretch ourselves when taking on a new assignment that is outside of our comfort zone. Pain also occurs when our schedules become jam-packed with the addition of development classes to obtain training and/or additional certifications, so that we are eligible for a new role or promotion. All of this stretching leads to increased levels of anxiety and pressure (ouch!) as we try to get it all done and not drop any “balls.” It’s uncomfortable – but necessary.
Guess what (and you know this)? The pain eventually goes away, and you look down from the top of your “achievement mountain” and say to yourself, “I did that! I made it through! I conquered that challenge!” And then…on to the next challenge because we should never stop growing and achieving in all areas of our lives.
Let’s get comfortable, living in the uncomfortable because we know it will lead to the best COMFORT – ACCOMPLISHMENT!!
